We are Classtopia’s tax compliance department. In other words, we are the equivalent of the I.R.S. We enforce tax payment from the citizens of Classtopia. We are a group of three, Aiden, head of dept., Lalia the accountant, and Jesse, corresponding secretary. We work together to make sure that all taxes are collected.
Our department was created on October 7th, 2016. As citizens we use coasianism to make decisions. This means we “spent” to see who will be the head of each department. For the I.R.S., there were four candidates presented, Aiden won. The I.R.S. is like a real job with all the responsibilities.
What do we do? In Classtopia we spend instead of voting to elect people to new jobs. Our job is to keep track of all the transactions. When people spend and do not get their preferred option, they are compensated. They have to pay taxes on the amount they were compensated. We send a letter to the citizens to inform them how much they owe. We must keep track of who pays their taxes because we don’t want some Classtopians getting away without paying their fair share.
The I.R.S department is a real job for us three fourth graders. When taxes are collected all other departments are happy. Citizens can choose to which department they allocate their taxes. Our economist friend,The, calls this pragmatarianism.
We are the I.R.S. and we are here to serve all Classtopians.
This is the form we use to spend and letter to pay taxes..
