Garden Department

The garden department in our nation is headed by me, Brianna. I am responsible  for a group of seven students who work to make sure that the gardens we created at our school thrive.

We became garden enthusiasts when we started the fourth grade. We saw areas at our school that needed to be taken care of. Our teacher loves plants and she helped to take over the empty spots. Our class started with 30 students and we divided into three group for the three areas that we found. Everyone found an area that they wanted to work in. Our teacher, her friends, and some of the students brought in plants. After a few weeks of work our garden was created. Everyone at school loved it.

There are different kinds of plants for each garden. The first one is succulent, the second one is epiphytes, and the third tropical/shade loving. The people in the groups  help to make each garden possible. There are several beautiful plants in every garden.

The class visits the garden almost every morning at 7:35 am. We usually garden in the morning because we come to school early. Usually at recess and lunch we look at the plants to make sure that no one stepped on them. Sometimes we water after school to prevent them from dying from lack of water.

We hope that students at our school can learn to appreciate our hard work while enjoying the beautiful gardens. We hope that the plants will grow big and healthy. We hope that our little gardens can inspire others to want to grow. We share cuttings with other people and hope that they can trade with us.  We are learning to take care of plants and our friend,The, has given us a million garden books. We can read about the plants we have and the plants we have yet to grow.

Members of the tropical/shade garden are: Laila, Jessie, Daisy, Yazmine, Natalia,  Leslie, Camilla, Niven, Christopher, and Jalaysia.
Members of the Epiphyte garden are: Brianna, Elizabeth,  Nathaniel, Luisangel, Adrian, Isael, Aiden, Jacob, Daniela, and Kaleb.
Members of the Succulent garden are: Sergio, Alyssa, Lindsay, Allison, Jessica, Mariana, Kylie, Ashley, Diana, and Katherine.
