Gift From the Principal

Today, on our way back from art class, we saw one of our coordinators, Ms. C. Ms. C gave us information about our Chromebooks. Some Classtopians were interested in hearing what she was saying because it had to do with us. We found out that this week that we were not able to take our exams on the Chromebooks.  They are not managed by our school district since they were a donation from SoCal Honda.

She said that it would cost us $25.00 to manage each Chromebook. If they are not managed through the district, we would have to go to the computer lab and take the exams. This means that we would have to steal other people's time in the lab. Like we did yesterday for our fraction test.
Our teacher said maybe the principal would be nice enough to give us the money. She also said that we just done a fundraiser and we could use some of that money, or we could do our own fundraiser.  Our teacher turned this into a math lesson. She told us to figure out how much money we would need. We have 29 Chromebooks, so that is a lot of money. We need about $725.00 dollars to manage ALL of our Chromebooks. Our teacher was joking around and told Abby to bring $5 for each letter of her name plus 5 more. Then, she said to bring our birthday money, our piggy bank, or parents money! I thought that was very funny! We knew she was joking, or was she?

During that Adrian and Niven were in the back arguing about a Youtube video and got very loud. The teacher heard them and call them to pay attention to the information that we were getting. They had to figure out the math problem by themselves. They missed the whole conversation.

As we were talking, we saw our principal, Ms.B. passing by. She had papers in her hands and walking quickly. We said, "There she is. We waved Ms. B. to come over to us, so she did. She started to walk up the stairs to where we were. As she was coming up, our teacher said in a quiet voice, " Use your persuasive conversation skills."

We started complimenting her hair, her clothes, and her glasses.  She didn't accept the one about her hair. She said she only had two minutes to talk.

She said,  "I need one person to talk fast."

Finally, Christopher got to the point. He blurted out, "We need $750."

She said. "WHY?"

Then Aiden took over and explained exactly why we needed the money.

She said, "WHO WILL MANAGE IT?"  She said this because all of us were talking at the same time, and she couldn't figure out what we were saying.

We all said, "Our school district."

She asked for a minute to think about it, and in ten seconds she said, "What if I don't? Will you keep bothering me?"

Our teacher said, "You will never hear the end of it."

Ms. B. said, "If I do, will you stop bothering me?"

We all said a big, huge,  "YES".

She turned to Ms. C. and said, "Can you pay for this?"

Everyone walked away with a big, huge smile and came back to work on this entry.

Pretty we will be able to take all of our exams on our own Chromebooks.

THANK YOU PRINCIPAL. B AND COORDINATOR C. WITHOUT YOUR HELP, NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE  BEEN POSSIBLE!
